Mindsets for Success

Pitch vs. Ask

To get our first job as teenagers, we’re often taught to go around and ask local restaurants, “are you hiring?”

Then, as adults we go look for job postings to make sure the company has open roles.

What if we skipped that permission based approach?

Just focus on a few companies you love, and forget whether they are “officially” hiring.

Start building a pitch. Tell them why you love them. Find problems to solve. Maybe say, “I want to work for you, here’s why. To prove it I’ll work for free for 1 week!”

Don’t ask. Pitch.

Dissolve the Self-Criticism

Take a second to ponder this question: How much is your constant self-criticism truly serving you?

Yes, you want to be honest with yourself, and look at the truth of your abilities, skills, and circumstances. It’s valuable to see where you could make different choices that could better meet your needs.

My question is, what if you encouraged yourself, and celebrated the effort you are making?

What if you gave yourself credit?
What if you saw the progress?
What if you loved yourself unconditionally?

It’s okay to let go of these patterns. It’s safe to step into a new way of being. Open your heart to the power of self-love.

It’s worth it.

Quote of the Week

“Think thoughts that make you happy. Do things that make you feel good. Be with people who make you feel good. Eat things that make your body feel good. Go at a pace that makes you feel good.”
― Louise Hay

Tap Into Desire

It’s easy to focus on what you don’t want.

The negativity bias often kicks in as fast as a little kid eats an ice cream cone.

Our minds are wired to quickly find what’s not going well. And this does serve us.

It’s key to not do stuff you hate and it’s also key to focus on what you want instead.

So tap into your desires. Give yourself permission.

Start to feel the good feelings. Daydream. Ask yourself, “wouldn’t it be nice if….” and let yourself the unbridled freedom for your desires to speak.

Then allow these nice feelings to fuel concrete action.

Start to build the life you desire, even by 1%.
