Mindset for Success
Don’t Buy a Ticket. Most people are on a train. They’re riding the track from kindergarten all the way through college, expecting to be handed a job at the end of it. But that’s not how it works. Careers are in outer space. No train will take you there. So don’t buy a train ticket. Build a rocket ship.
Ignore Jobs Boards. Applying through a jobs board is like getting in a very, very long line (avg ~250 apps). If you like playing the odds, just buy a lottery ticket. If you want to get hired, sidestep the whole system and email the hiring manager directly.
Send The Email. Job hunters spend hours ‘perfecting’ their resume, only for that resume to be ignored, like all the others. Instead, spend 15 minutes on a thoughtful email to the hiring manager, and triple your chances of a call back.
