When in doubt, ship

There’s often a tug-of-war between polishing and shipping.

Polishing is doing that extra take on your video pitch. Or, asking a friend for feedback on the email you drafted.

Shipping is sending whatever you have.

Is there value in both? Yes.

But when in doubt, ship it.

Perfection will never come. Hold a bias for completion.

Become an Intrapreneur

There are employees who “just do their job” and follow directions.

Then there are unstoppable value creators, who become indispensable to their company because they solve problems without being asked. This is being an Intra-preneur.

To build this mindset, read Seth Godin’s blog, full of thousands of posts on becoming a creative human.

You can start with this one: Entrepreneurship is not a job. He says,

“Entrepreneurship is a chance to trade a solution to someone who has a problem that needs solving.”

This. Applies. To. The. Job Hunt.

Quote of the Day

“The job is what you do when you are told what to do. The job is showing up at the factory, following instructions, meeting spec, and being managed…. Your art is what you do when no one can tell you exactly how to do it.”
