Habits and Systems > Goals
Goals are in the future, you can’t actually “do” a goal.
For example, you can’t lose 10 pounds in an instant, but you can do 10 push ups.
Same with landing a job. You want to follow through on habits and systems.
Here’s a daily template:
9:00 AM -10:00 AM – look for cool companies
10:00 AM – 11:00 AM – research companies
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM – work on projects and pitches
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM – lunch/break
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM – emails and follow ups
And so on.
If you schedule your tasks, do them daily, and never give up, you WILL land interviews and a job!
The goal comes as a result of the daily habits.
Do a 5 Part Podcast
A GREAT way to break into a new role is to do a podcast mini-series.
For example:
– Interview 5 marketers
– Interview 5 designers
– Interview 5 coders
Just do 5 one-hour episodes! Reach out to people directly on LinkedIn. You’ll build your network, your portfolio, AND learn about the field.
And capping it at 5 episodes means you don’t need to feel like you’re adding a huge on-going load to your plate. It’s just a short project!
And read this for how to start a podcast.
