Pitch vs. Ask
To get our first job as teenagers, we’re often taught to go around and ask local restaurants, “are you hiring?”
Then, as adults we go look for job postings to make sure the company has open roles.
What if we skipped that permission based approach?
Just focus on a few companies you love, and forget whether they are “officially” hiring.
Start building a pitch. Tell them why you love them. Find problems to solve. Maybe say, “I want to work for you, here’s why. To prove it I’ll work for free for 1 week.”
Don’t ask. Pitch.
